February is American Heart Month

February is American Heart Month, which began in 1964. Again this year, Clear Font raises awareness of the special health observance.

With Valentine’s Day just two weeks away, it’s a great time to think about those you love and raise awareness. Heart disease remains the number 1 cause of death in the United States, according to the American Heart Association. Someone in America has a stroke every 40 seconds on average. Even modest changes to your diet and lifestyle can improve your heart health and lower your risk by as much as 80 percent.

Recent efforts by the public and private sectors have put the spotlight on the negative impact of heart disease and stroke. Two national initiatives that play a vital role in fighting heart disease are MillionHearts® and Go Red for Women®.

With increased awareness and prevention, greater progress can be achieved and more lives saved. So this February, help get the word out about American Heart Month. Friday, February 5 is National Wear Red Day®.
